For example, I recycle. I do my small part to help and then several articles get published that the local recyclers are actually just taking our recycled goods to the landfill as well.
That's not your responsibility, all anyone can do is the best they can. You can also, either alone or with other like minded people, put pressure on whatever authority is supposedly responsible for recycling to lift their game and actually recycle.
