    • Yeah you might as well teach them how to suck cocks and fuck girls at that age as well, so later in life they would be scared of sex.

      Gosh Angel, you disappoint me.

        • I think what his point is, is that if you are going to teach them religion you can go ahead and teach them other "adult" behaviors as well.

Though I dont understand how being religion got equated to sex at all.

Religion is nice to believe in if you want, but there is no heaven or hell and certainly no "being seated at the right hand of the father when you die" nonsense. Religion serves a great purpose in teaching behaviors for civilized society. Outside of that its a bunch of horseshit. Its tailored to play on people's fear of death by reassuring people that life really doesnt end when you die, if you obey the church you will get to float on a cloud and see all your dead relatives and "be happy".

How much does that not make sense?

          • I think that a lot of the religious teachings were made to keep people obeying in society. It could have been made up the the leaders of the tribe or country to keep people believing them and do what they tell them to do.

It could also just be beliefs from people thousands of years ago when the world was more of a new place to humans and it was surely something a lot better than we see it today and so they made up that there must be a god that created this world.

Also the church changes rules when it feels like it. For example in the 1960's they started making hell seem like a worse place to children to stop them from going out and enjoying themselves like everyone else. And a long time ago the church banned alcohol because other people started making it rather than the church and they made it out to be unholy. Even though the church itself made it, they just started losing out on money.

Sounds to me as if a lot of religions just are for making people act in a certain way that is required at the time.

          • Religion isn't an adult-only behavior.

Otherwise there would be an age limit on when you can start practicing.

As for your statements on heaven or hell... that again is your personal belief and not necessarily fact.

            • Its a fact that heaven/hell havent been proven to exist, of course it hasnt been proven to not exist either.

Just applying simple logic to the question of life after death gives a reasonable argument against it.

Whats more logical to exist : 1. Another plane of existence where everyone who obeyed the church or lived a pious life goes where everything they ever wanted is provided for them, for everyone they ever knew to be there with them and love them and blah blah blah. OR 2. You just die and death is the absence of life and existence. You dont experience joy, you dont experience pain, you dont experience the passage of time.

I would say option 2 is alot more logical to me as well.

Think about what you said here.
