Do you think chewing gum in public rude?

Rude? No. Obnoxious? If they're chewing it with their mouth opened like some kinda animal maybe.

Open-mouth chewing of gum is only slightly less disgusting than open-mouth chewing of food.

Chewing gum or anything with mouth closed = acceptable
Chewing anything with mouth opened = unacceptable

Spitting in public is rude to me but chewing gum not so much.

Disinterested shop assistants chewing gum like Mr Ed the horse. Not a good look.

Chewing gum is dead, long live the breath mint.

My thing is, if you're gonna chew like a cow, go out in the field like one to do it, and not sitting with the rest of us proper folks.

Stank breath is more rude.

Its disgusting when someone chews gum with their mouth open. And it makes me mad. Because i was taught to chew with my mouth closed.
And im pretty sure everyone's parents or whoever raised them taught them the same thing.

If someone's chewing gum quietly I don't mind at all, but if it's a quiet room and someone's smacking their gum it's hard to tune out and messes with my focus.

I, personally...Walk away. HATE that sound, no matter what... The other night, in fact, at sports bar I go to..Sat down at a corner seat, and within ten minutes, had to move. Guy two seats away chomping like a freaking cow. I couldn't take it. Changed sides of the bar, and took pleasure when his glass was empty and bill in front of him.

Chewing gum in public is refreshing, and it's always better to be refreshing than to have bad breath in my book.
