Its good because its allows indi artists to make music, like if a man wants to make a song with a women singing in it but doesn't have a women to sing he can alter his own voice to sound like a women.
if you cant sing, but got a message, write a poem. there are loads of GREAT indie bands out there. Wilco, Arcade Fire, Cage The Elephant? come on :)
