I'm not sure.
I think the discrimination homosexuals and transgender people face is quite specific, and the LGBT community are there to overcome that through solidarity and campaigning.
Asexuality, whilst a legitimate orientation, doesn't quite fit in to that - there aren't people saying asexuals will burn in hell, or saying they deserve fewer rights as people, or saying they are wrong or disgusting.
Perhaps awareness of asexuality could do with being raised. But the ramifications of the absence of awareness doesn't seem nearly as dangerous or detrimental. Really we want to get to a stage where there is sufficient understanding of human sexual orientation that doesn't necessitate minority groups banding together.
But hey, since I am a member of the S community, I'm probably not the most qualified to argue one way or another. It is an alternative sexual orientation to the mainstream, so maybe there is a legitimate argument to sit under that LGBT umbrella. They could add an O for Other. LGBTO. Other sexuality, including asexuality, pansexuality and whatever else.

"Perhaps awareness of asexuality could do with being raised."
That's really the only issue I know of for asexuality. On a personal note, my parents thought I was homosexual apparently for quite a while simply because I hadn't really tried to pursue any relationships at all. I guess they thought I was abstaining or something?
Eventually they finally ended up asking if I was gay. I responded along the lines of "No, closer to asexual."
Cue confused stares and a dropped subject.

they're just people with no sexual attraction, not no sex drive. People who say they have no sex drive aren't technically axsexual, they just have a low sex drive.
It's like if all the females in the world suddenly turned into men (sorry I'm assuming you're origionally attracted to females here). Since you find none of them attractive does that mean your sex drive will lower? no it just means there's nothing in particular you want to look at.

"no sexual attraction, not no sex drive"
Contradictive to the hilt.
If you have a sex drive then you have sexual attraction. You can't have one without the other, attraction is caused by the sex drive. It is what drives you to reproduce, "attraction" is the stimulation of that drive, the activation if you will. If you are sexually attracted to someone it is BECAUSE of your sex drive.
This is basic fact, not an opinion lol.

let me be clear, "sexual attraction to either gender".
You are able to have an no attraction to a certain gender, bisexuals are attracted to both genders, why is it inconceivable that some people aren't attracted to either?
Attraction is the FOCUS of the sex drive. And I admit, most asexuals do have a very low sex drive. Some don't. Some get horny. They just don't have either gender that they wanna do anything with.

Wtf, that is the most incoherent pile of shit.
The sex drive causes attraction, they aren't two seperate things. They are bound together.
No attraction = no sex drive
Why is it inconceivable that some people aren't attracted to either you ask?
Becasuse for it to be possible one would have to have no sex drive at all. Your opinion screws itself by default and you can't even see it. Not that it matters, because what I'm saying is proven fact.

I think we should have a category for everyone so noone feels left out. To leave anyone out would be politically incorrect and an injustice to all mankind right? Dont want to hurt anyone's feelings.
I want one of those important categories for those who take powerdumps so I'm not left out. After all I was born that way. ahahahahhahahhaahahhaahhahahaha
I accidentally thumbed your reply down instead of up bro

I thought it already was? isn't there a longer version of LGBTQ that has Intersex and Asexuals on it? I only kind of remember because someone tried to stick a second A on it to stand for "allies" and someone else had a bitch fit about that.
Either way, yes. Asexuals should be counted. The whole LGBTQ thing is supposed to be for anyone who isn't a cisgendered heterosexual so asexual certainly counts.

Well, Asexuals aren't sexually attacted to the same sex,
but then again, Asexuals can be in relationships, just not sexual ones, and I guess an Asexual CAN have a same sex partner.I dunno, but I've never considered Asexuals part of the LGBTQ community, and this is coming from an Asexual person.

I'm not an asexual so I don't know if I have the right to say anything on the topic. But since the LGBTQ community is all about sexuality and understanding how people were born, then I think they should be since it's not something that, in my opinion, people are too familiar with.

i dont understand ppl who say asexual people aren’t oppressed?? ? like ok no there isn’t anti-ace legislature but that’s because no one fucking knows we exist lmao
ASEXUAL PEOPLE don’t even know we exist and then they mentally destroy themselves because they think they are broken and wrong
because woahah check it out allosexual culture glorifies sex, sexual attraction, and romantic/sexual relationships and then it demonizes people that don’t own to those ideals!!! it’s almost like there is an allosexual infrastructure that exists in our society that oppresses asexual people by erasing our existence lol but ahaha nah “u cant be oppressed for not having sex” yeah it’s CLEARLY that simpleComment Hidden ( show ) -
