Do you think animal abusers should face the death penalty?

intentionally abusing/hurting an innocent, defenseless animal is one of the sickest things a human being could do. the fact that they know it is so wrong and evil to do so on an innocent creature who just wants to show love and compassion to its owner. its disgustingly sad and sickens me to my core. people who abuse animals deserve to severely suffer and should lose their life for doing such a fucked up, heinous thing to a loving, innocent animal who did absolutely nothing wrong. animals don't even know what's going on and those who take advantage of them deserve to die. obviously a very violent, psychopathic individual would most likely do something of this sort but it is still wrong and they do know to some extent that is it wrong and they should have their life taken for the abuse they put an innocent animal through. just my thoughts.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I think everybody that thinks condemning people to be murdered is funny or acceptable should spend some time working with people condemned to death. It's not funny or cool.

    • Actually killing someone's dog in several US states is countable as homicide, but i don't think those states have the death penalty.

        • Nevermind, actually they can't, but they still qualify it as a felony in the majority of states and give a mandatory sentence of 1 year in all states.

          Comment Hidden ( show )
      • That's simply not true. Felony animal abuse, yes, homicide as in human homicide? That's just something you made up.

          • O.K. I wasn't trying to be a prick. In my state, it's a 4 year felony and that's pretty stiff. Imagine going to prison for 4 years and coming out a convicted felon. But then, people who would do that don't think about the consequences.

      • My West Virginia friend wires coal mines with 440V power and runs his possum farm on the side. He don't like faggy Washington ATF assholes either. Anyways, he does differential calculus as well as they can. Must be why he out shoots them at 700 yards.

  • I would love to personally kill people who torture animals. But I'm a realist. I would go to prison for life. And no state or country is going to impose the death penalty for that. So I said neither yes or no. But I do think long prison sentences followed by probation for life, "Never allowed to own pets or even be around animals", would be something that could actually be enforced.

  • No. Animals are not as significant as humans. It's a sick and disgusting thing to do, but an eye for an eye between animals and humans is ridiculous.

    • Why are animals not as significant as humans? Because you're human?

      • Because we're the most intelligent beings on Earth. We can help the planet and destroy it. We have the power to determine what is right and wrong. We can make a big difference. But most animals simply mate and die. Their whole purpose is just to make more of themselves.

      • I eat meat as well. That's why I asked the question. People have a funny way of calling for murder when it's something they see. But if it comes between them and their comfort, that's something different.

  • Imagine there's woman and her puppy. A man comes along and kidnaps & rapes the woman and hides her body and the family doesn't have any closure because he only got 1 year of prison, on a 2 year term with 1 year time served. And THEN..... Well, he also killed her dog so we can give him the electric chair. You see the problem. We need appropriate punishment for appropriate acts.

  • i think people that own dogs and cats are fucking sick

  • ya know, definitely jail time. but at the same time if it were just “animal” abusers instead of pet abusers, we may all be put to death. i’m a meat eater but i’m not oblivious to the fact that the animals we eat every day, most of them were abused and treated horribly. as much as i love puppies and whatever, the death penalty just doesn’t make too much sense to me.

  • So some sad, lonely old lady who keeps far more cats than she can properly care for deserves to be put up against a wall and shot? Because animals are equivalent to humans, right? The death of an ant is just as tragic as the death of a human being?

I don't think anyone should face the death penalty.

No system of justice is perfect, and far too many innocent people have been condemned to death and executed after what was supposedly a fair trial.

I doubt if those who are so keen on vengeance and capital punishment have really stopped to think about how they'd feel if they knew they were locked up - particularly in an American maximum-security prison - from today until they died of old age. People in those places go bat-shit crazy, and that's a far worse punishment than getting strapped to a table, having an IV line inserted, and then dozing off.

And, as donteat points out, how exactly do you define animal cruelty? PETA squirrels think that having a pet cat or dog is cruel, since the animals are in an artificial environment and they aren't allowed to live wild and free and do what comes naturally.

Having said at all that, I do think the authorities should give a high priority to cases of deliberate animal torture, since it is known that people who do that very often move on to harming people.

  • You must first empathize with humans and then animal. Wishing brutal death among people is not congruous with this moral code of empathy you are seeking to enforce.

You want to torture those who torture to show that torturing is bad.

I think you need to think this through a bit more

    • Torturing animals is definitely messed up. I had a friend who's brother's 7 month old growing dog was running away from his house and he had to spend over 10 minutes chasing it. When he finally got ahold of the dog, he spanked it very hard and it yelped and whimppered in pain and I did not like that. The dog isn't intentionally doing anything wrong, you can't spank it like that for what it did.
I do agree though that the punishment for that shouldn't be quite as harsh as if you did the same thing to a child

  • I think they should be locked up in a cage (prison) for life and be treated how society treats some animals :)

Death is an easy way out

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Depends on the reason for killing the animal.

If you're planning on it being used as a food source for human consumption, I see nothing wrong.

If you're just killing it because you enjoy hunting poor defenceless animals, then yes, by all means you should have your head on a spike.

  • i'll tell you a little story dude... you conclude what you will...

In amazonia there are plenty of big dangerous animals, but there are so many laws forbidding animal violence there. An expedition of geologists, looking for digging sites, then, had a rule there. if you have to kill an animal (for survival, obviously) and a person witness it, kill the person too. The law fucks you more for having killed an animal than a human being

    • That’s screwed up. So basically even if someone is killing animals to stop themselves from killing people, they’ll be executed? That’s dumb.

      Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I'm for removing appendages. Not quite as brutal as they may deserve but it gives them something to ponder when they stare at their stub.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I think the punishment should be to lock the animal abuser in a room with a dozen PETA folks on hardcore stimulants. It'll work itself out.

  • animals are my food. eating my foods food is pretending. i dont kill very much of my food but a vegetarian goes all his or her life without killing any of its food either. You dont get a free killing card just because you kill plants, it doent work that way on planet earth.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • What is your definition of animal abuse? To hit an animal for a reason is okay but to repeatedly beat an animal out of anger is not okay. To cut down on food so the animal doesn't get fat or if you are poor and can't feed them once is okay but to hold back food and laugh at them as they stave and not care about them is not okay.
When dealing with larger animals who are not trained as well you learn that you have to play just as rough as them because if they get the chance they will charge and hurt you. You can't just say I love you so you must love me back. Animals don't love they do what they want to benefit their well being.

  • I think the people who abuse their animals should be put in a Human Zoo -Human Zoo's did exist... maybe they still do till this day. They should be put there just like people in nowadays are put in prisons, just like a man or woman would be put in prison for murdering or abusing children. The human zoo I would describe looks like this: No food, No water, No beds, No baths, Chained up and to upgrade the zoo how bout we add some monkeys outside the zoo laughing and throw rocks until the person dies like an animal died from its owner from getting things thrown at it etc- that could be their death penalty.

It makes me think why the hell the idiots still have animals in their care when all they do is abuse and neglect them. I always hear the excuses "it deserves it" Seriously?? No animal deserves to be abused!!

So yeah... A Human Zoo is the best answer.
