Rabies is a viral disease that infects the central nervous system that can drive people to be violently mad.
Combine rabies with the ability of a flu virus to spread quickly through the air, and you might have the makings of a zombie apocalypse.
The first signs a human has rabies—such as anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, and paralysis doesn't typically appear for ten days to a year, as the virus incubates inside the body.
If the genetic code of the rabies virus experienced enough changes, or mutations, its incubation time could be reduced dramatically.
Lab enginered live rabies chimera viruses and even in 1995 the USDA is responsbile for unleashing a gentically engineered rabies chimera with a pox vectored virus into our environment. We now have a rabies species jumping strain that is not needing a bite to transfer. Also they have teased out of nature a strain of rabies that is 98% LETHAL AND THE VIRUS TRAVELS UP FIBROBLASTS not just neutrotropic viruses. The governments have already weaponized rabies to influenza and it is capable of infecting up the nose crossing only one oculomotor neuron to get into the brain. No vaccines will protect against this, antibodies do not cross the blood brain barrier and would be of no help. Also, the weaponizng of rabies has already been accomplished. Obviously not for health reasons but for the reason of developing weapons of mass destruction. These man made chimera viruses with pox viruses and rabies have already made human ill with small pox like lesions who handle these live rabies baits dropped into our environment from airplanes. Also, in Mexico they are already linking the rabies virus with H5N1 Bird Flu virus gentically engineered vaccines for bird flu. Man is incredibly hubric and his tinkering in violating the laws of nature in protecting us from this kind of zombie virus has been tripped.
yes you're probably right, something like this could cause an outbreak, but depending on government reaction time and support, this could be a one day inconvenience or an intercontinental destruction event. In theory, it could be possible.
yes typically, and infection would take control of a living being, assuming that said virus is also potent to animals. a resurrection of the dead would be very unlikely to turn into an apocalyptic event, considering there is really no realistic way to bring a person back from the grave, unless of course it somehow involves a scientific breakthru gone wrong, which in that case i dont see how that would efeect a large group, probably just affectin the one specimen. i doubt that something causin the dead to rise and walk the earth, could be used to transform the living into walking dead. Even if zombies were to be the type that come from decomposing humans, would slowly deteriorate, with or without food. Thus making a zombie apocalypse possible, but not an end of the world problem. armed forces across the globe could probably render a thing like this, short-lived.
Do you think a zombie apacalipyse is possible?

So.. in theory...it's possible.

and remember.... aim for the head!
But rabies doesn't reanimate dead tissue.. so these aren't dead people that continue living? these are living zombies?
