I don't have feet that are good for walking barefoot or in socks. In fact, a lot of people have this, and podiatrists will suggest wearing shoes with supportive soles all the time. My dad has similar feet, and he actually had rules when I was a kid - no bare feet in the house - slippers at least all the time. So I'm the opposite from the OP. I think bare feet on carpeting is gross - think of the sweat and oil and dirt you are greasing the carpet with.
