I have a lot of experience with dating sites. Eventually I did meet my wife on one. But, I estimate over 10,000 "internet contacts" and meeting at least 100 people in person before I decided to use a site where both the men and the woman had to pay several hundred dollars (or equivalent monthly income in foreign countries) before I met generally decent people; which was where I met my wife.
In general, the free ones are full of people who want something for free and scammers.
I cannot tell you how many people lied to me (example: I am highly allergic to cats. That was clearly stated in my profile, I would then ask them over the phone before we met if they had cats... Now if they did, it can be managed by having them shower and put on freshly laundered clothing. You would not believe how many times I was told no cats - and then started to react to the cat dander on their clothing: To which they would then admit that they had cats and didn't think my allergies could be that bad.
That is not the only issue people would lie to me on (very long list. Lie to me and I drop you like a rock.
Find one that charges both the Ladies and the Men the same amount, and at a minimum of several hundred dollars a year for them to be there (USA cost). You still get some scammers. But the rest are actually looking for something serious - and willing to put up their own $ in order to find someone else who is serious too.
ps: My wife had a cat when I met her, and gave up her cat to marry me.
Do you recommend dating apps at all?
