Do you like your last name?

Mine is attached to way too many people who commit crimes and do drugs. I'm planning on changing it eventually.

How about you?

I do not know if I like my last name until this moment. When I think of the story behind it it's kind of sad. When slavery was abolished the freed people were given as last name their master's name and that's probably how I ended with this one.

I'm not really sure. When your ancestors were enslaved it's difficult to know much about your family story.

This post made me kind of sad. I should have voted no.

Aw don't change your name cos of what other people might think. Your name is a part of your identity. You should feel proud of it.

I like mine as it doesn’t rhyme with anything or fit into any puns, people try to make fun of it after I mock their names and I like seeing their faces pass from desperation to frustration to sadness.

My dad was (apparently) conceived anonymously, so our last name is just some bullshit that was made up for the birth certificate. In other words my name doesn't come from anything, which always felt like a cool novelty. I'm rootless

No, and I don't know why. I'm glad though, because her name was really boring

No, but her name most likely came from there. It sounds like something that would've fit with a British caricature.

I also wanna mention: she always insisted that the person on the birth certificate was real, but if he was we've never been able to find him or any record of him, and she was known to be a compulsive liar. So her making up the name is ultimately just an assumption, but it's the one we've always went with because it made too much sense. Especially considering what our name actually is

Don't feel ashamed of your last name. It's not like you had any say in it. Your last name does not define you.

I like my last name, but I dislike how Americans mispronounce it. German names should be pronounced in a German fashion, just as we pronounce Vietnamese names in a Vietnamese fashion.

Yes, I've always liked it. It's a pretty normal name and I've had it all my life, so I wouldn't want a different one, since I don't do change well.

I like my last name. Before communism took over Bulgaria in 1946, my family was rich and affluent. We had multiple businesses across the nation and owned lots of land and real estate.
While we never got back our properties (except some farm land), it's good to know I come from a high class family.

According to the internet my family name exists since the 18th century and there is also a mafia family we share our last name with. We are not related.

My dad’s mothers last name (well full name actually) is a nice traditional Italian sounding name. You could spot the Italian in her a mile away. I unfortunately got stuck with his dad’s less than german sounding last name. I love it. But it still sounds bland to me.

Sometimes Id get teachers trying to pronounce the J like a Y and god did that make it sound cooler but also wrong.

Wow. No. My biological last name would’ve been something like burghouser. It’s German and I’m not actually sure about the spelling. But the sound of it is awful.

Used to it. My name looks very similar to a lunch meat. Any kid with two brain cells to rub together got a nickname. Though I had two other brothers so it wasnt a true nickname until the military.

Obviously. My first name is "Mega" and my last name is "Driver".

I was made in a freak F1 accident, where Ayrton Senna had a drunken fight with Alain Prost and Niki Lauda next to 120NOS bottles. The combined rage and skill of those racing legends fighting and the explosion gave birth to me.
And my purpose in life is to test drive and powerslide every single vehicle ever made!

Mega Driver would actually be a really cool name, but you'd have to be cool to pull it off. It's a lot of pressure.
