Worthy causes are a strange thing. When they use the same techniques as "celebrities" to get noticed, it tends to impact negatively. It's like the geeky kid at school suddenly wearing fashionable clothes.
When it's a manufactured artiste desperate for attention, money, sex, we don't mind. When it's someone/something that wants to make a positive difference, we dismiss them. I include myself in this because I have mixed feelings about PETA.
Doing the right thing is uncool. Just one more reason why humanity is fucked. And deserves to be.
Unfortunately, peta is run by quite the two faced liars. I really wish I could remember the information to fully back this up. The point is, the followers may have good cause, but peta does not.
I don't know, either. I've heard all sorts of things and can't remember most of it. But it has caused me to have mixed feelings.
I do wonder if PETA are victims of propaganda, though. People ranging against PETA have more to gain (personally) than PETA activists. I don't have any evidence to support that, though. I'm just pondering.
Do you like or hate peta?
