Succinct questions are fine, but I think it's stupid how so many people don't mention things like their age, sex and physical location when that's relevant.

It's like they assume they're such an important feature of the universe that everyone already knows those things.

    • I fucking hate that! People will post how lonly they are or something and won't even list basic information! That pisses me off!

This is a advice column. Why be annoyed by people asking for advice here?

        • It is that I want to help them, but they don't give me the information nessecary to do so effectively.

Sometimes, the best comments are those that help frame the issue a bit better. For example, I'm going to assume you are a socially isolated old man, who doesn't get laid. Your world view is organized and sensible.

High school girls who shriek and scream, without sensing the passage of time, are in a state of temporal chaos with zero sense of themselves. Their life awareness is nothing other than sensory overload. Their only issue is the hunt for stimulation. Life is an amusement park, and old men like you and me are the carnival rides.

I'm sensing some creepiness here. How about you?

        I find your metaphor unpleasant.

Yes, I intentionally added some disagree-ability to force Boojum to respond to the broader population, including the adolescent sector. Truth be told, many intelligent kids like Daria can become problem solvers and the leaders of tomorrow, but only if they develop a well grounded sense of skepticism and opportunity.

Thank you for your feedback. It was constructive as always.

When I was a teenage girl the last thing I'd ever want to do is envision anyone in his 60s, or 70s as a carnival ride. That is some truly repugnant imagery.

I'm glad the imagery worked as intended.

Yanno, powerful language that makes you shiver, or that calms your heart is cool stuff. Now that I'm thinking of it, Shakespeare has some repugnant, vile metaphors. I think I'll google them up. Perhaps I can adapt one of them in a future comment or two here at IIN.

Since your assumptions about me hit the target only twice (and I state in my profile that I'm an old guy), I'm not feeling creeped-out at all.

Amusing summary of the teenage girl mindset, although I'd like to believe that you're being a tad cynical. Being a teen has never been easy, and I didn't much enjoy the experience, but I do feel sorry for people who are going through those changes in today's world.

It would be interesting to encounter a teenage girl who considered me a carnival ride, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think it's creepy for anyone to insinuate anything about teenage girls using men in their 70s as carnival rides.

I think you have framed the issue rather nicely. You are a bit of a social artist, aren't you?

Well sometimes it is the title, vague or not, repetitive or not.

Like that LGBT post, it triggered my “find the first new words for the letters that make you laugh” reactions.

Personally I really like the idea of “Levitating Gator Battle Tanks”

it doesn't really bother me, sometimes its difficult to articulate your whole question in 75 characters too. It also works well for surprises!

The worst is: "Is it normal?" How about just remove titles entirely and replace with random buttons floating around the screen?

I just it depends on the post. I'm not a big fan of long posts that seem to detail the love lives of junior high school students.

On the other hand I don't care for posts where someone says they have a particular problem, and want advice, or a solution, but speak in very vague terms, and give few details about the actual problem.

I also want to say that a lot of this stuff varies from post to post which is why I simply say that it depends. I try to look at each post as something entirely new, and different from the last.

    • I like it in many cases. There are some that annoy me when the post is just a rant that has nothing to do with the title. But properly used, I think it is a good tool for posters to utilize.
