I personally think responding anonymously fits the very purpose of the site. Your name isn't shown with a story and I'm sure someone wouldn't want to be identified with a revealing story simply because they decided to respond with their name showing. The dislike for anonymous seems based solely on curiosity and not exactly why someone might hide their name.

and there's no real reason like not about anything personal or to be embarrassed about. Call it a pet peeve

The dislike for anonymous seems based solely on curiosity and not exactly why someone might hide their name.
It's quite simple. People reply differently to anonymous than they do to a specific username. Usually they are more honest and play fewer games.
I get you. Sometimes they like playing guessing games.
