But it's in your mouth...
I do it with my family all the time. I wasn't raised to do it, I'm the only one in my family that does it. My family doesn't have a problem with it.
@Holzman_67
Manners and etiquette don't really apply here unless it's getting in the way or grossing out the other diners. Worrying about something being "animalistic" isn't a real reason not to do it. Otherwise, you're one of those people that eats finger-foods with a knife and fork.
I'm well aware that it's in my mouth, but the whole idea of spreading it across a plate and licking it back into my mouth is slightly gross to me. It's not the same as eating from chopsticks, or a fork or spoon. i'm having difficulties with finding a way to explain why I find it slightly gross, but I just know I do. But as I said before, the food I eat leaves nothing to be licked up save for a little bit of sauce, maybe.
You're right, you don't understand what I'm saying. I never said I couldn't lick things twice - "It's not the same as eating from chopsticks, or a fork or spoon" would suggest that I do not have a problem with putting my saliva back into my mouth, just it's somehow different when it's being done with a plate.
Do you lick the plate clean?

My reasons haven't much to do with what Holzman_67 said - well, I did say "slightly gross". I find it slightly gross because saliva is gross to me.
Also, I wasn't thinking about licking the plate in public, either. But I do eat in front of my family.

I guess I don't understand what you're saying. You can't lick anything more than once...?
