Both words begin with the letter m and end with t. Someone told me that everyone knows the term for men who hate women but not the other one, because of the common societal view that women are perfect while men are animals. I'm curious if that's true.
it is a common misconception that feminists hate men and want women to be the dominant gender. In fact, a feminist is someone who believes in equal rights and opportunities for women. So a man who believes in gender equality would also be considered a feminist, a good example being Obama!

You do get the extremists who believe women are superior, some who actually want men to disappear from the population, but they use 'feminism' as a label to gloss over their hatred and prejudice towards men, just as some people use 'patriotism' as a label to justify racism.
No, I didn't know the term for hating men, but I think that the term for hating women applies also to women hating women. I agree it's interesting that this term is more widely known and used, but couldn't that be because woman-hating is still more common? After all, we're still a long way from having achieved true gender equality.
