  • Professor Brian Cox. Wouldn't go as far as "friend", though. He's just a colleague.

      • I'm surprised you knew him, actually. He's not really famous outside the UK. I see him wandering around campus and he's always friendly and will have a chat. He's the same in person as he is on TV. Really nice bloke!

        • Yeah I live in England, a lot of people know of him here at least. And yes he seems like a great guy. He really brings physics to life and he's almost _too_ passionate about it.

          • lol, yeah, he is. He grins like an idiot about absolutely anything. But he has a fantastic way of getting things across. Now and again, he runs a seminar (usually after work) for the people who work with him and we get to hear him speak about something relevant. I think he's trying it on us before looking for a bigger audience, but - either way - it's nice to be part of an institution with him.

We have the current Nobel Prize Winners for Physics with us and I see them on my walk to work but they're not exactly approachable. It's fine. It's what they do. But I prefer Brian's engagement with people. Getting them involved. Making science interesting. I know they won the Nobel Prize, but I prefer his enthusiasm for a subject that I myself am quite a fan of.
