  • I live a much more privileged life than the majority of the planet. I am a young white male who lives in a prosperous country that is heavily biased towards that sort of person. My parents are intelligent and supportive and their incomes are secure and above average. I have a small group of good friends. I have a girlfriend who is beautiful and makes me smile. Objectively, my life is very good.

I don't think it's right to judge how good your life is based on what you have, though. You referenced that in the OP. Some people have terrible lives but have a lot of money, a lot of good friends and a good family too. My life has ups and downs, as does any life. I think I have a way of communicating and thinking which causes me to be marginalised (or feel marginalised) by a large amount of society. I think that I am very insecure about my personality, and very lacking in confidence about my outward appearance. I think that my insecurities are less detrimental than a lot of peoples' are, but that we can't judge quality of life relative to other people (even though individual happiness is definitely linked to how happy those around us are). I have a very, sometimes cripplingly, unhealthy dose of social anxiety.

Everything in my life could be considered a blessing or a curse, depending on how I look at it. Most things I see as both (that in itself is both a blessing and a curse).

Let me live in the shoes of everyone else on the planet before I decide.

    • Some people don't even have shoes D: Plus what about kids' shoes, have you seen how SMALL they are? You'd have to bind your feet to squeeze into them...

      • Hahaha... I had to laugh when I read what you said, because I just came from town where a lot of the islanders are barefoot and one west indian man had a single pink flip flop which I suspect he probably found washed ashore.... :D

      • I don't have to wear the kids shoes on my feet though; I can hang them from my ears :D
