With regard to actors, directors and, or both I wouldn't exactly use the word respect. Perhaps I would say that I have appreciation, and admiration for their mastery of their art, but I would NOT use the word respect!
That's a question I used to ask myself when I was a theater actor... but the thing is if either one of them is bad the other's work is irrelevant. So you gotta go with respect for the marriage between good directors and good actors.
Good actors, yes. They actually perform convincingly which takes skill. Directors use their knowledge and wisdom to create the most ideal settings etc.
That said, this is like one of those "you can't see the forest for its trees" things. Both actors and directors have their moments to shine. I'm really noticing it while rewatching the Lord of the Rings trilogy
This is hard. I work in film and i always thought the directors worked harder than the actors but i see now that i takes a lot to make a character believable. Both are admirable when done well.
I dont like the propagandists preaching to us peasants about our lives when they got armed security guards and mansions all over the USA.
