I am a child of the 60's, when the FBI had agents in all the colleges (even some high schools) and "the man" was out to get us (the counterculture/hippies).
I used 3 post office boxes to insulate me from the system and did not even have a bank account or credit card until I was 43.
The thought of laying myself open for the whole world to see is absolutely horrifying to me and Facebook is something that just doesn't seem natural or safe to me.
Not being one who likes to lie or deceive, I'm not comfortable creating a false persona for Facebook, either; I just don't see the point.Comment Hidden ( show ) -

Had one. Looked around. Saw that it brought out the worst traits of my fellow humans so I closed the account, pretended that Facebook didn't exist, and also pretended everything was better than it was.
It goes not well. I know it's there. Eating away at our beauty like dignity cancer.

Ah facebook.
That thing that makes people feel more popular than they are by having 50+ "friends" when in reality they don't even talk to 3/4 of them.
If I care enough about someone, I'll get their phone number to "keep in touch". I don't give a s**t that random person x is in a relationship with random person y or how big your s**t was this morning.

Yes, however I tend to delete most people and just keep my friends list to a minimum of ten people. It kind of defeats the purpose of being on a social website, however there is really only one person I like to keep in contact with, and a few others I don't mind talking to.
