The only deaths I've ever grieved have been dogs. The amount of unnecessary death in the world makes me sad and angry, but that's a general feeling not a response to any individual deaths. I stop short of grief, anyway. Grief is a sensation of having to deal with pain caused by the death of someone you dearly loved, and I don't think I can truly feel that for a stranger in the same way that I can't truly love a stranger.
