Do you get annoyed by....

Quite often, my wife and I get together with family and (or) friends to play cards or dominos. To me, it's annoying when the game has to come to a halt because someone has a Facebook message that they feel they must answer. Usually, it's a group thread and is just stupid crap that they're laughing about. Or, when our group of family and (or) friends go out for dinner and we can't eat until someone gets a picture of our meals to post on Facebook. I was going to ask, "Is this normal?" I see it everywhere. So apparently, it's become "normal". So, is it normal for me to be annoyed that Facebook has taken over people's lives?

I'm on my phone a lot, but it goes away for meals and socialising.

It's almost always on silent, anyways, so unless I have it in my hand or check regularly, I don't get constantly interrupted.

Idk why some people find that so hard.

Oh and the IGing every fucking meal is infuriating. I ocassionally take a pic if I get something special or different, to show my bf, and I feel like I must look like those mongs who need to document every meal. Ugh.

Yes, it has become normal, and yes, it is rude.

Somehow, I doubt if most people would be happy with the idea that anyone they know, even on the most casual basis, was free to pop into existence in their living room, at their dinner table, or wherever, interrupt whatever is going on, say something they think is witty, demand a response, and then disappear.

Remember Pavlov, his dogs, the bell and the treats? Some - maybe most - people are the same with their phones. The phone chirps and they eagerly respond, tails wagging, tongues lolling, and eager for the little blip of dopamine they get every time someone acknowledges their existence by sending them some stupid, pointless message.

    It's fucking pathetic, really.

Call me an old fogey, but my phone lives in the kitchen whenever I'm at home, it stays in my pocket when I am away from home, and I don't have any social media feeds on it. If people send me a message, they know they might wait for up to a week for a response. Strangely enough, I don't get bothered very much (and yes, I do have friends).

    You can't control others.
But you can see how rude it is.
    So don't do it yourself.
    That's my only advice.
Guys complain I don't always answer calls etc right away.
    I live life.
My phone doesn't run my life like some umbilical cord.
I'd say you're normal, sometimes people are self centered jerks.

I couldn't vote because I'm not sure what you're asking.

It's definitely normal to be annoyed by other people's rudeness with their mobile phones and not normal that they let someone interrupt their time with the people they're with.

Boojum's post above says it all, I need add no more ....

Normal to be annoyed but at the same time, it is what it is. Sometimes you just gotta put up with some shit to keep everybody happy. At least if you don't wanna be the ahole of the group.
