Do you find it inconvenient to be a brutally honest person at times?

I consider myself to be a brutally honest person, but there are times where I feel it is not in my best interest, as well as other people's best interests to be completely honest. In the past, I've discovered that my honesty can make things more inconvenient, such as speaking negatively about a job at work and then losing my job the next day, getting a friend in trouble, and etc.

Do you find it inconvenient to be a brutally honest person at times?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Just because it's the truth doesn't mean it should always be spoken.

  • it's an art form. you gotta learn when to be honest and when to not be honest.

  • lol is it bad that i dont even know if im honest

and whats the point of being honest ALL the time unless u really have no feelings for other people?? ur just gonna end up hurting yourself and others

  • I've had to learn to sugar-coat the truth a bit. I'm becoming a master at the shit sandwich: you start of nicely (e.g flattery), then deliver the punch, then finish off with something sweet again. It's quite effective.

  • I'm brutally honest only when people specifically ask for it. I'd be interested in living in a world where everyone is honest to the nth degree but it would have to be everyone.

I think you can achieve the same results with tact. It's just harder to pitch it.

  • Being brutally honest is my specialty. i kind of don't know how not to be. I joke around a lot but I dont like not telling the truth. If someone were talking to me, brutal honesty is what I expect.

  • I'm an honest guy...but sometimes you have to use the correct words to say something...it is like do not talk with your ass, I'm telling you this because I had big huge mistakes in the past. everytime you wanna tell something, try to find the best way to tell your opinion without being ofensive the other person.

  • once you say it you cant go back. and its noit that you wanna go back is that the other person can turn it against you or nopt forgive you.

  • Being brutually honest is bad for relationships, regardless of what people say. And my brutal honesty has made relationships harder for me. I wish I can truly get in through my skull to be a little more deceptive to get the things I want. Everyone else is and brutal honesty in this world does not work! And that's one of the facts about life!

  • I used to be a brutally honest person, thats how i got dumped by my only ever GF. I said she was fat, but i dint mean to say it, it just slipped out of my mouth... more than once. Now that ive learnt from that mistake, im not as honest as i used to be.

  • I used to be brutally honest because for some reason it just never occurred to me to lie or to sugarcoat anything. I ended up getting myself in lots of trouble and people thinking that I was looking for drama. That really wasn't the case though I just really never thought to not be totally honest because people always said that they really valued honesty... Which i have found is totally not true. Now I am a very good liar when I need to be.
