Do you ever use the advice you get on iin?

Have you ever read comments that made you think of your own life experiences and then possibly react accordingly? Like say a relationship post has a comment that stands out to you and your own relationship woes or that of a friends, so you take it to heart.
Feel free to mention a comment that helped you- but try not to turn it into a popularity contest. I'm purely wondering how helpful people find each other on here.

    I feel like the majority of people on here are just looking for someone to affirm what they are already thinking. And they disregard anything that people say otherwise.

    Yeah, there have been plenty of helpful comments on IIN. I mean, it's obviously nothing you'd follow to the letter or anything like that. It's usually just stuff that helps change your outlook a bit and there have been several comments that were reassuring to me and made me feel a lot better. Just comments with some empathy really. It's usually from a handful of users who give very good advice.

    Being on this site probably helped me in many situations either consciously or subconsciously and made me really think sometimes...

    I wish some of my comments have the same effect.

    No. I've never gotten good advice on anything I posted here.
    My common sense always tells me that they're setting me up for epic failure, so I disregard it and find a proper solution elsewhere.

    Therefore, I try to be different and actually give out good, practical, and sensible advice here.
    I comment on most of what I read, unless someone has already said what needed to be said.
    It's the reward that the OP earns by writing an interesting story.

    Sometimes, however, I just come across a stupid question and can't help but to join in the trolling.
    So: Don't write stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers.

    The advice I get usually makes me see the world differently. When it comes to taking action, if it's a good enough reason, then yes I'll do it.

    I don't know about directly following advice, but they've certainly helped me focus on things and see them in a different way before. I'm sure I have directly followed advice given here before, but I can't remember specific incidences. Sometimes that advice is useful and sometimes it isn't, and I definitely remember advice I didn't take but should have done :P
