Beef was the first thing I boycotted when I started to "put my money where my mouth is." There is certainly beef that meet my standards of food quality but in this era, I have the freedom to choose and the luxury of being picky.
Most farming practices are horrid. Many westerners are too detached from what it takes to put food on the table.
And most people know red meat is bad for your heart. It is also bad for the joints. For me, it triggers arthritis as well as other autoimmune issues, mostly GI stuff.
I'm not sure I understand your confusion. I can't control what other people eat. (Unless you come to dinner of course) but I can support the companies with reputable business practices. These are the same reasons I don't shop at walmart.
im not confused im curious, you said you dont eat cow because of political reasons, i wondered what the political reasons were and cow only? got me curious
That's a really long story. My in laws think I'm vegetarian because they don't know how to buy sustainable food.
It makes me physically ill to eat animals that have been pumped full of hormones and have never seen the light of day. Cows weren't meant to eat corn yet most farms put them on a corn diet. Chickens are just bad. But I need protein and soy isn't an option for me. So I pay attention to the farming practices of my food sources.
I would eat grain fed free range beef but being arthritic, it's a bad idea.
