I always ate fish, being raised Catholic there is a common misconception that fish isn't meat. I never understood it but ate what was served to me as a child. Then I turned veggie, but never gave up fish. I didn't really eat it that much but it's hard to turn down fresh Salmon from the river. At least I know where it came from. And it's food you don't have to pack in if you are camping :)
I stopped being veggie about 2 years ago when I discovered my body doesn't actually know how to digest soy. My protein options were limited so I learned about my food choices. Ultimately, if meat is produced locally, without hormones, and the animal eats what nature intended it to eat while living a relatively "normal" existence, I will use it to nourish my body. Except cows, I still will not eat cow meat for health reasons as well as political reasons.
Even crops of vegetables must sacrifice the lives of many rodents to grow so the animal rights argument only goes so far.
