  • I got alexithemia (unable to verbally express or acknowledge internal emotions) I still feel emotions but I need a chart to help me understand what X feeling means.

So I dont get emotionally moved by things. More like sudden rushes of unexplainable emotions that enhances gained insights of a particular moment. Once again hard to explain it but I know it's not how most people experience emotions.

And to the people who assume I'm on the spectrum because of it. While the correlation of people with alexithumia with asperger's and autism is high it's not mutually exclusive with the condition itself.

    • I’ve never heard of that disorder but I do know that some emotions and feelings by default are just hard to describe. Some people are even sad or feel guilty and don’t realize it, just a way they process emotions, albeit not in a helpful way.

Do you still physically express emotions though? Like crying or getting hot/tense when angry or frustrated?

      • I dont cry often. But most basic emotions have to be put on as a mask. I still feel but I have to physically try to show them.
