Female Porn Stars consider themselves "actresses".
They get paid to make a movie that involves them having sex.
They aren't being paid by the men (or women) that are fucking them.
So my question is:
Are Porn Stars "Actresses" or "Prostitutes"?

Sometimes they actually are being paid by the person they are having sex. Plenty of porn producers have sex in their own films. But it doesn't matter, if you pay a prostitute to have sex with your friend as a gift, it is still prostitution even though she is not being paid by the person she is having sex with.
The fact that porn is legal in the US and prostitution (for the most part) is not is a joke to me, that something private between 2 people should be illegal, but if you film it and share it with the world, that makes it OK.
I have to agree with you on this one. Maybe now that marijuana is being legalized, prostitution will be too.
I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
I want my tax dollars going to something that matters, and not imprisoning people who smoke marijuana or decide they want to be a prostitute.
I also say let gays and lesbians marry. Who am I to judge other people.
The commodity that is being produced in porn is the VIDEO.
The commodity that is being sold in prostitution is the SEX.
There is a world of difference between the two.
Yes, sometimes producers may have sex in their own videos, but they are not paying the actors for the sex, rather they are paying them for their role in the video.
The sex that the porn actors have may not even be enjoyable, because they have to have cameras shoved all around them and are constantly being told how to move and where to go. In prostitution, obviously the sex is supposed to be enjoyable because that is what is being paid for.
Not exactly, both have a goal of pleasing their clients, who is paying for it in cash, the main difference is one is directly between the worker and the client, while the other is indirect.
The workers enjoyment does not really matter in either one. The main concern is the client's enjoyment. That being said, both prositutes and porn stars can still enjoy their jobs, and many do.
Some people will try to claim some religious or safety concerns about prostitution, but the main reason prostitution is illegal is because the alleged difficulty in taxing it. Honestly, I think it's stupid, not to mention, I fail to see the difficulty of taxing it.
Good question. I would have say they are actresses because they are in the "entertainment" industry. They are filming scenes as required by the "director".
They are getting paid for more than just to have sex, even though the plot lines are usually sparse.
I can certainly understand how people can perceive them as prostitutes, though.
Anyone that works for money is a prostitute. if you're nice to everyone, even those assholes you hate, you're an actor.
I really don't see porn stars as some sort of second class citizen, they are really no different than the rest of us, perhaps even better, because they're honest.
I also think the OP is sexist, because FEMALE porn stars are singled out. Does anyone think all the males are just getting laid and there is no money involved? Naive.

I agree with your original comment. To expand on my point, financial compensation is usually commensurate with performance. One would be more likely to complain about females that give anything less than cock stiffening performances because they are so highly paid. Male porn stars do contribute to the hot action, but since they get paid less than doctors or good lawyers, expectations are lower provided that they have an eight inch shlong.
I saw an interview with one porn star and she said that she considered herself an actress who explores a wider range of human behavior and pleasure. I think porn stars are both actresses and adult entertainers.

Prostitutes they are not for sure. If they are actresses is something I never found out. At least they seem to pretend a lot.

Neither, they are entertainers, quite simple really.
Britney Spears is/was never a great singer. But she and her group could put on one hell of show. Same could be said about numerous other Pop Stars.
Wrestlers are not actors, olympic athletes, or body builders, they are physical entertainers and showmen/women.
Porn is a GINORMOUS industry, scoff all you want, at least I'm not supporting them with my tax dollars.

And get in positions no sane person would like to fuck in. And act like they enjoy cum on their face instead of finishing a fuck. And they make money for doing it.
If it wasn't a movie it would be prostitution.
They just act out things that are not normally shown in public. This doesn't mean they are not actors.
