I think that it's neat to see how much early Americans wanted to be different from Brits.
Not entirely true, some of these "Americanism" are actually older English terms that have been replaced with newer terms.
An example would be "diaper" now replaced with the newer term "Nappy" in the United Kingdom and most of the Commonwealth.
Do you care about the small differences in spelling? (UK vs. US)
