Do you care about the small differences in spelling? (UK vs. US)

  • I'm not really irritated by it, but I am irritated at how Americans think that calling crisps "potato chips" somehow makes the whole English language "American".

I dislike the whole thing where the USA thinks swapping a very few amount of words with others somehow makes it their whole own language.

    • I have never seen or heard of this happening.

However, if I were you, I would sincerely be upset about American "Ebonics" and the way we have allowed what is essentially the King's English to be turned into dis bullshit cuz sum street muddafuckas dropped outta dat bullshit hah schoo bcuz educashun aint street it aint thug lyf and havin a diploma wont get yo azz inducted into da south side 13 yo because of our desire for "tolerance" and "culture" (but gays don't get that. No tolerance for gays.)

That would upset me if I was of your nationality. No clue why.

    • The potato chip was invented-and named-in the US, so that's a very poor example you give.

    • -Usually- only white trash think stupid crap like "Ey, yoo! Speak Amurrikin!!"
Most of us are aware that (e.g.) the Scottish are speaking English and that we certainly have no ownership over the language.

As Neuro said though, Ebonics can be upsetting. I don't personally find it so- I don't care how you speak, as long as I understand you. Though, I did find it ridiculous when our school systems decided to teach Ebonics.
