  • I see your reasoning.
Certainly human evolution has left many comparisons and familiarities to other species. Obviously our cousin Ape (specifically now extinct since we evolved from them) looks pretty much exactly as present day apes! Not only that, they do have hands, can walk upright and seem to be very intelligent, especially when compared to humans that have very low or mentally handicapped intelligence. I mean we have humans presently living who need 24hr attention and can't even eat for themselves (regarding mental issues). Guess what, apes out smart these humans. So there not that far off us in intelligence alone, let alone all the physical similarities, right down to DNA.

Regarding 'mermaids'. My understanding is part of your body can't 'evolve' leaving the other part untouched! You are either ALL sea creature or all human. 'Some' of those reported findings on beaches etc were found to be pigs (another animal close to our skin this time).
Since the oceans are so vast taking up most of the world, its VERY possible (actually 100% most likely) that we definitely are not aware of all life underwater. Who knows, there could be easily large mammal type creatures (other than known dolphins, whales etc that we already know about) living in colonies. But 'mermaid' specifically? Not likely, although there could be large fish that have human type faces, so if that's a mermaid I'm unsure exactly.

You know I shouldn't place a non-belief in god solely on evolution. Because generally most everyone now accept evolution to be true, including the Pope, and most other religious people. My real point on the evolutionary cycle is why then even have a god? he didn't 'create' anything, gives zero input on anything (ie he even let the dinosaurs go extinct how cruel is that - for them). And quite obviously solar systems will continue to expand and collide and planets form and suns die, you name it. And all this quite natural to the universe.

People seem to believe in god for one reason only, and that's death!
YES its scary to die, of course no one in their right mind wants to die. I don't want to die, thankfully presently I see no reason that I could do so in the foreseeable future. But to make up 'paradise' (Islam) or heaven (that that silly Christian idea) and then to say that ONLY believers go there and the rest burn! Is crazy. Plus there's no dog heaven? Or tree heaven? Or any other heaven? Just people believers heaven? The whole thing is ludicrous or as I usually state religious ridiculous.
