If you saw them physically and spritiually.
I.e Your walking downstairs, and you get thrown accross the room, and your pinned down, fully awake. And you find a load of messed up shit, like your cat being flayed etc.
Or you see it physically, like... That weird guy from Charmed who went on Nip/Tuck.
Not saying I skinned a cat? I don't even like cats in all fairness, so I would never have one. The only reason I used one in my example, was because they are the most common household pets. :)
I've always had a vague theory that God, Jesus and the Church are in fact. Servants of this so called "Satan and Demons".
If there was a "holy war", the side that wins and defeats the other, can tell the story how they see fit, spread propaganda make the morally benevolent side seem evil. Maybe the real Holy side lost the "war" and the evil people just said they were good, and made people follow their beliefs.
Its a weird theory. But entirely possible. I would imagine "if" it was correct that the "true" bible or whatever, would let us do what we wanted, and not have to abide by many rules and such.
Even then, the evil forces could use the morally correct rules just so we follow them.
Its a weird theory, I'm not saying i believe it at all, its just something that sits at the deepest parts of your mind that you conjure up, when bored.

I would think a demon would probably disguise it's self as a messanger of god. not so violent but more malevolent in a deceptive way.
like maybe those people who say that god told them to go kill someone or whatever.
a lot more likely that they're just completely insane.
