I am an atheist but said yes. As RawSodium said, it is comforting for you personally to "talk" to someone and unburden yourself, so yeh it helps. The only problem I have is saying your prayers have been answered...I could go to town with you on that one...but I'll lay off today. Its just so self-absorbed. If my prayers had been answered, I'd think wtf there's people with worse problems than me, why don't you fix the poverty and starvation first before you get to my problems.
Well I was raped I prayed for strength and I got through it. Sorry I didn't realize I would have to clarify that I pray for others going through difficult times as well as my own difficult times.
I do but I felt pretty alone in the universe, talking to that silent entity gave me a feeling of purpose and healed my own doubts in my existence. I guess the child in me still believes in miracles and the possibility of another form of energy that created everything wonderful in this life, it's like believing in Santa it makes you feel like Christmas was something magical.
Do you believe prayer helps?

Humans adapt. You got through it because you adapted and became a stronger person. Not because of a prayer. Give yourself a little more credit

I am sorry you went through something so awful. My problem is with "god." I am glad your prayers helped you.
