Do you believe people with criminal records can change?

Can they really change is my big question?

I think we need more services to ex-criminals, especially ones thst re-develop their self esteems. And let as fee people know about the crime as possible, because how are they ever going to form positive relationships in the community if they are shunned and abused?

I hired a guy with a criminal record who just needed a second chance. He turned out to be a great employee.

Are they returning to their previous environment, this time with a criminal record, still dumb and uneducated, and no chance of getting hired or holding down a job? No, they can't change.

Well if they’ve been wrongly convicted they don’t need to change to begin with.

But the guilty ones, yeah sure. There was a case where this infamous Indonesian high security prison introduced a revolutionary meditation method to its inmates and the effect was profound, the criminals instead of shying away from their crimes and maintaining their “innocence” reached out to the victims who’s lives they impacted and sought forgiveness, remorseful for their crimes.

I think it depends on what kind of stuff they've done and why. I don't think people with serious mental issues that cause them to commit crimes (such as serial killers who can't seem to stop killing and act impulsively on their urges) have much of a chance of ever changing, as I'm not sure there is much effective treatment for that at this point.

Otherwise, I think that for the most part, people can choose to change for the better, but it has to be a conscious effort on their part and no one can make them change.

Short answer is yes, long answer is if they deserve the opportunity. Case by case basis.

Some can, others never truly will. Depends on both the person, how old they were and why they did the crime. As well as what is done to change them

People who are actual psychopaths will never be outright good and caring, but they might avoid doing crimes in the future (even given the chance) because they personally would benefit more from not doing it.

That ratio makes me happy. Sometimes this website isn't so pessimistic.

I grew up in and out of juvinile and have a pretty bad adult record also up until the age of 23 but haven't gotten in any trouble since. Im making 6 figures now with stay at home wife and kid got a house and decent savings now 3 cars paid off doing good financially for my age. Ppl that know me always talk about how much I changed. I think my wife is to credit because if I didnt have a wife I would still be hanging out with the same people.

Of course they can... If they want to change.

There are 10's of thousands of success stories about people who learned their lessons and really do want to start over and live a clean life.

Of course, there are many who really have no interest in such a change.
