I it was Haddaway who once said...
'What is love? Oh baby, don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more'
Sometimes I'm not sure what I believe anymore...
At one time, I did though, yes.
What is "true love", and how is it different from "love"? I believe in love, but I don't honestly know what people mean when they refer to "true love", or even whether they are all talking about the same thing. Does it mean unconditional love? Love which transcends death? Very, very strong love? Anything beyond lust? Film-like perfection? I believe in some of those things (yes no yes yes no, if you were interested), but I don't know which of those things people mean when they refer to "true love". It seems to be one of those phrases which nobody clearly defines :P
For that matter, define "good." Most of us believe that we hold a clear understanding of what it means, and dictionaries give a mechanical summary, but when asked to give an actual definition, we can't.
It's subjective, like many words describing emotion.
I don't know about the OP, but I guess for me, it's many of things on your list. My own definition would be a love that is not only unconditional, but complete, absolute, and spiritual. Once experienced, you realize that you now feel whole. You feel needed. If true love was then lost...you'd bear a wound of permanent emptiness for the remainder of your life. I would not only risk, but offer to give my life for it. When I do die, I can go peacfully knowing I've experienced it.
That may sound cheesy, but it's the best I can do to describe my own experience...and what it means to me.
I found my ttttttttrue lvoe:) I loveeeeeee him lkovvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee him
I do in some respects...and i really hope one day I can find it....but right now the only true love I have is the unconditional one I get from my dog
It does strike me that a lot of women give up looking for mr. Right and settle for mr. Wrong
well I believe in it but what I believe in isn't nearly as romantic and sentimental as what's portrayed in hollywood films. I think any love that survives adversity is true love.
though I've never had it I guess for all those who have felt it and were lucky enough to be loved back would know its special and true... its a strong feeling!!
