Do you believe in ghosts/spirits?

Do you believe in ghosts or the supernatural (including demons and other entities)? Personally I am a big believer in ghosts and spirits, and I'm curious what everyone else thinks.

If so, tell me why in the comments below. Did you have a particular encounter or experience that led to your belief? If not, please also tell me why. :)

People can believe anything they want. Truths remains truths.

Yes, I do. I believe in ghosts, spirits, supernatural and UFOs, even though I work in electronics (a job without any supernatural skill). :)
My mom and me love watching documentaries on TV about it (I'm 22 years old). My mom have seen an UFO and a ghost (she told me). I believe her. With my skills in electronics, I want to try to make a device that can communicate with spirits, like an electronic ouija !
I don't know if it is possible ...
You'll probably think I'm crazy but we are on Isitnormal, right ? ;)

By the way, I believe in God but not through a religion. I have my own faith and convictions !

I don't believe in the supernatural my country and culture is saturated with the supernatural witches, magic, demons, angels, charms, transformation magic. its in our movies in our day to day conversations but i've never had a spiritual encounter not one.

    • Yeah, I agree. I was born in and grew up in a part of Scotland that only spoke Gaelic and still believed in all of the folklore (eupines, selkies, spririts, and even divine interference of Gods). I think that kind of supported my belief in the supernatural. Strangely, I still believe in those sorts of things to this day, even if my better judgement tells me otherwise.

That's really cool. I was born in argyll and even though Yorkshire is my home now, I've always been fascinated by that stuff. Some folklore has sneaky bits of truth that has been lost over time.

They are almost certainly not real, but as I can never conclusively disprove their existence I would say I'm technically on the fence. I believe firmly in science, and if science has taught me anything it's that the universe is a fucking weird place. I'm open-minded.

I personally don’t believe in ghost or anything like that but I would like that they exist because it would such a nice study field. If you ever had an experience with an entity, I would gladly read it.

    • This might sound far-fetched, but it's a true story!

Once when I was a kid, I was walking out with my friend after the sun set (I don't remember why). My street had a bunch of houses that were separated by a few feet of empty space. It was also in the middle of a wooded area; not exactly a forest.

We were walking together, chatting, and then (I remember this part pretty clearly) something caught our eye. We turned towards one of the houses, and very visibly in the darkness was something that looked like a mask. It had two eye holes and a mouth hole and it was kind of swaying back and forth in the dark, staring at us.

We both immediately screamed and ran back to my house. It sounds like a total lie, I know, but it was super scary.

Other experiences include weird dreams and sleep paralysis, as well as waking up at exactly 3 am multiple times a week to see fuzzy colored orbs kind of floating by my lamp (turned off).

If anyone can explain these things scientifically, I would be so happy to listen. I'm not really sure I WANT to believe in ghosts.

Jesus isn't a ghost, because he isn't dead.

          • amen :) And yes, I do know Jesus. I've gone to Catholic School my whole life.

Trust me, after that happened, I said PLENTY of prayers.

I cannot explain what you saw these days but it sounds scary. Even if I don’t believe in spirit or these things, I love ghost stories.

Yep, my daughter used to call the spirit in our last place the “black mist.” We saw it several times,as did visitors. Kind of glad it didn’t follow me to my new place.

    • That's so creepy. What other characteristics did it have, besides looking like a "black mist"? When would you see it?

      What was it like?

That’s really about it, a black mist. It was roughly the size of an adult torso, maybe a little bigger when it spread out. It didn’t make noise or do anything else that we noticed. It did have a presence you could feel that would catch your attention sometimes. One time our 8 yo nephew was over and was talking about something and mid sentence looked up and said something like “something black just went up the stairs”, then went right back to talking like nothing at all happened. Kind of made the hair on my neck go up.

Ghosts and spirits yes, demons and stuff no. That seems a bit too movie-ish

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I don't, because my religion, Christianity, leaves little to no room for ghosts.

I mean, Biblical, by-the-book, looking up Hebrew and Greek words, Christianity.

If there were ghosts, don't you think my mum, who died giving birth to me, would have reached Out?

    Yeah nope, ghosts don't exist.
