Do you believe in fate?

I was thinking lately..do you think everyone you meet.. be it guys or girls, future friends/ boyfriends/girlfriends...do you think it happens for a reason? Like you were meant to meet these people?

Hell yeah, but its kind of strange.. 25

I was a determinist before I even knew what determinism meant. I guess that means I believe in fate but in the worst possible way. For me, the future can only ever unfold one way. Everything happens for a reason, yes, but the reasons are the laws of nature.

I try not to think too much about this because it makes me very claustrophobic in my reality.

  • fate sounds like theres trouble ahead, kismet sounds sparkly and seredipity sounds like alcohols involved, so kismet yes i think so

  • Whether it exists or not we have no way of proving it one way or the other so it's a pointless discussion.

That would be an interesting experiment though! It could be pulled off to an extent.

Yep... you think you can change fate? No because that was your fate to do whatever you thought would change fate. The future is fate, even tho it hasn't happened yet it is going to happen the way it would have happened no matter what

so..according to you, "free will" is an illusion? And if that's so, then whats the point of living? Why the overrated emphasis on life?

No. The future doesn't exist (as it hasn't happened yet) so fate can't be real.

You had to go and poop at the party...

I enjoy the cause and effect of random encounters. Call it what you will.

I thoroughly enjoy making the connections between cause and effect BUT I also realized that cause and effect are only possible because we are able to concieve those things. Does a deer feel cause and effect when it decides to cross the raod right in front of me? No. But do I feel the cause and effect of the situation? Yes. I think "what if I had left 5 mins earlier?...or what if I had taken the back route?" etc....

If alternate routes are taken, a whole new set of cause and effect would take place.

I've concluded although it's extremely interesting and amazing, we are just aware of it because we have the mental capacity to be aware of it. That does not make us special. In fact it slows us down in a way. We think we are vital to this world when in fact we are the least vital being on this planet. our minds are as much a blessing as a curse.

Fate is the excuse people use to not take responsibility for what happens to them

Determinism. It's essentially fate but not in the way you meant, I don't think.

    Whoa! I love you too

I could have thumbed up your post but it didn't fully explain how I felt plus I just don't like you hence why I made my own answer.

Yeah, I think everyone in your life was brought to you for some reason, whether it be for a small reason or a big one. Sometimes the reason is so small, that it goes unnoticed, and you don't figure it out until year's later. Everyone we meet, we meet because we're supposed to. And I don't know, maybe I'm weird for thinking this, but I think acquaintances even have a reason to show up in our lives.

I don't think that it is fate rather random events that occur. Anything can change in an instant and something might be gained or it might be lost. Fate can't be proven, although, some still believe in it and that's okay. Believe what you want because in the end it doesn't really matter what others think, it matters what they do.

No I do not believe in Fate. I believe in the Bible and what it stands for. The Bible Our Saviours Word to us states that every living Man has a soul, and it ours to do what we want with it. Except Him as our Saviour and live with Him when we die, or not except Him and have Satan and Hell be your future.
