They'd probably hate us if we went there. I'd never think to stand to the right. It just seems weird.
Oh, oh, weird fact. We drive on the left side of the road because in medieval times we used to walk on the left side of the road and let people pass on the right. It's because we didn't know if they were friendly or not and our sword was on the right hand side (most people are right-handed) and it was easier to pull it out and attack someone.
Do you also hate it when people walk on the escalator?

Lol I've always felt like it was an 'unspoken rule' of the footpath/escalators. It seems to be second nature for most people here to do so anyway.
Wow, never knew that. Surprise attacks on escalators with swords strapped to your waist? Yeah, totally normal :P
