it's normal for him to be self-conscious now that he's aware you are interested.
the only person who knows if he's going to contact you is him. everyone is different in every situation, so there's no answer as to whether or not shy guys contact.
it isn't lame. maybe give it a week, and try again, this time without your friends knowing. the friends knowing can be enough to put him off. good luck:)

My friends thought it was lame, I know I am in highschool and mature but I thought it was a nice thing to do.
He accepted it..
but question
Now he seems....... a little more self-conscious
