Do people in england go to the beach?

I have friends who live there and say its cloudly 9 months out of the year. How do they ever spend time on the beach when it's cold all year? (I live in california where it's sunny all year round so I can go to the beach any time.)

Is It Normal?

  • Going all the time would loose the enjoyment a bit, going to the beach is a special thing

  • Morrissey – Everyday Is Like Sunday

    Trudging slowly over wet sand
Back to the bench where your clothes were stolen
    This is the coastal town
That they forgot to close down
    Armageddon - come Armageddon!
    Come, Armageddon! Come!

    Everyday is like Sunday
    Everyday is silent and grey

    Hide on the promenade
    Etch a postcard :
"How I Dearly Wish I Was Not Here"
    In the seaside town
    That they forgot to bomb
Come, come, come - nuclear bomb

    Everyday is like Sunday
    Everyday is silent and grey

Trudging back over pebbles and sand
And a strange dust lands on your hands
    (And on your face...)
    (On your face...)
    (On your face...)
    (On your face...)

    Everyday is like Sunday
    "Win yourself a cheap tray"
Share some greased tea with me
    Everyday is silent and grey

  • It is an island, of course they go to the beach. Who said you need the sun to enjoy the beach? And not all of California is a sunny beach, way to encourage that strteotype.

  • England sent her prisoners to the best beaches in the world. Only the well behaved remain. Never to be liberated - never to smile. Oh dear. God save the queen.

  • Yes they go to the beach to see the snow and rain.

  • We still go to the beach, mostly in the summer when we have more temperate weather. Actually, you should see beaches like Margate. The place is CRAWLING with people when the sun comes out, honestly. :)

  • I live up north and the beaches are grim. You usually can get good fish and chips in the seaside towns though. Plus whoever said 3 months of the year it's not cloudy they are talking shite.

  • They do go to the beach... but they don't call it the beach, though. they call it "bath time". They go like two or three times a year
