Most of the ones I've met don't hate their family members. They usually have had bad experiences dating, interacting with the opposite gender, or were screwed over by members opposite gender in some way. Others never had anything bad happen to them. They just got influenced by people who had those bad experiences.

There is this mistaken notion that when you hate feminism you are a misogynist. We don't hate women, we hate feminists.

    • That is to try and shame men. To try and stop them having an opinion and shut men up. Some of them may think a man actually does hate women also. That is how I see it.

Yup, the left as a whole squashes every argument that goes against The Narrative with buzzwords like racist, sexist, misogyny, homophobia, islamophobia, etc. The latter is so hypocritical when you know how islam is in direct opposition to most of their tenets.

        • I can't stand people that turn to name calling when they realise their argument does not hold in any ground.

There are certainly many misogynists who are sexist towards the women in their own family, so it's definitely not no. Is it all or just some? I have no idea what the breakdown is. It's hard to easily identify misogynists, it's not like you can ask them, most of them have no idea they are one, and it'd be even harder to determine who they're misogynistic towards.

But it's important to remember that misogyny, just like racism or xenophobia or any other kind of hatred, isn't just a blind hatred of everything about everybody of that race or gender. A father might genuinely love his daughter, but if he thinks she has to grow up to be a homemaker and get married to a man who she serves and raises his kids, that father's a raging misogynist. Towards his own daughter. A brother might genuinely love his sister, but if he thinks she shouldn't wear revealing clothing or go out to the bar and get drunk or have sex with whoever she wants, he's a misogynist. Towards his own sister.

But there may well be misogynists who don't have those views about women in their own family, or even their close friends. It's probably a lot like racism. We all know that one guy who is blatantly racist but his defense is that he has a black friend. I remember seeing a guy on Twitter a few years ago claim he couldn't be racist because his nephew was half black...I still have no idea how the fact that his sister slept with a black dude meant he couldn't be racist, but there you have it. Of course, the question is...do they actually stop being racist or sexist towards people they like, or are they just suppressing their true feelings about them? I suspect it's the latter in most, if not all, cases. So I would vote yes, they do...but I could see an argument for some do, some don't.

    • Well you are only talking about hate towards women when there is also hate towards men in society. Not just misogynists. There is many misandrists that are sexist to men as well. Sexism can and does go both ways.

Everything you have just said can also be applied to a woman that is misandrist to men.

Of course you need to also remember if a guy hates guys he is still a misandrist and if a woman hates woman she is still a misogynist.
