Snuggling and going out and helping supporting each other do sound like normal activities normal couples engage in. You don't have to act like her parent to do those things with her.
There is a difference between wanting/choosing to be with a man, ....and completely depending on him for your survival and being forced to be with him just to live.
I think you confuse independence with isolation. Just because a woman does not completely rely on a man's paycheck does not mean she does not want a man.
How else are women supposed to find a man? We have to live for many years without one. When a woman is dating and single, when she has not yet found a man she seriously wants, she is supposed to take care of herself and pay her own bills. How is a woman supposed to do all that if she is not independent? Women have to be independent and self sufficient. There is no other way to be a functional adult.
