If you have ever never held a weapon, you will probably not understand their appeal. The cold steel that can end a life in a heartbeat has some magnetic property that is very irresistible.
Taking the life of another person is not something to be undertaken lightly, and using one in anger or fear, can alter the lives of many people forever, including the shooter's.
But what irks me to no end is how everybody keeps saying how Americans are such violent people.
Serb and Croats, Muslims and Christians, Africans of almost every nation are all so much more violent than any American that has ever lived! Genocide such as seen over the past 30 years, world wide, has not happened in the US since the slaughter of the Indians and no one from that era is alive today. A few school shootings and gang related crimes is no comparison to the wholesale murder of so many in Syria, Africa in general, Afghanistan and so many other places around the world, that happens on a daily basis.
There may be plenty of reasons for the world to hate Americans (or at least the policies of it's government) but to call us a violent culture is absolutely ridiculous. There are no child soldiers running around with AK47's killing hundreds every day, indiscriminately, in the USA!
It is funny how you're comparing the USA to war-torn countries and cultures, instead of with other stable countries like Canada, Japan, Norway, Sweden, etc..
And just what were these "war-torn countries" before these "wars"? Peaceful nations just like those you mentioned, until one group or another decided to slaughter others, for whatever reason.
Genocide is not "war", it is the wholesale slaughter of human beings for no other reason than hatred.
Do Americans love guns too much?
