Ask Your Question
Do you believe that addicts can ever truly rehab out and recover?
You are always an addict. It just depends on whether you give in to the urges.
I mean I've been clean from weed for months and I still crave getting high sometimes. It's all about willpower but god damn can that urge sneak up on you.
So yes. But the cravings won't ever go permanently away.
An addict is still an addict, but you can learn to deal with it and stop giving in to the urge to get high. Stop fighting and you'll lose.
Yes, because the human spirit is very powerful. But it a cured addict is sadly very rare. The best most addicts can hope for is abstention, which is not necessarily being fully cured which would mean the ability to practice moderation. Are there some rare exceptions? I am sure there are.
They can. Whether or not they do is dependent on treatments or their willingness.
Some do yes but I think you'll always have an addictive personality
Recovery is more rediscovery
Rediscovery of simple pleasures devoid of high, rediscovery of your identity
If you can rediscover those things, you keep the addiction at bay, you have things to live for, too much at stake to go back. But you must always fight the occasional moment of weakness that comes with routine lows, such as grief, loss, and even everyday depression. These are constant and will never leave you and nor will the dreams of drug use.
You can but sometimes you find yourself going back.
Addicts are in recovery, not "recovered". Recover from the obsession? Yes. But most will always have an "allergy" aka their bodies develop a phenomenon of craving once they start using, they can't stop. So recover from obsessing about the drug, yes. But never able to safely use again.
Depends on how you define recovered.
Yes many overcome it but depends on what kind of addict, their support system, environment, etc
