You should always make to take them off (not if you're a man, though, prob... like with gross- oh smell- oh feet)... when they see you, they'll either not say anything or just wave at you to not... If you Ask, it's a bit forward... or like you're Trying too hard to be polite/nice... it's unnatural. Maybe they'd get suspicious haha
...also, it's like.. "should I take off my shoes?" "would you prefer that I" lalalalla.... it's like... you don't really want to... "please don't make me do thisssss"... which is rude
