So what? People make a huge deal about that and I really don't see why. Alaska has permitted the cultivation and possession of Cannabis since 1975 or something like that. The only major difference is that Alaska doesn't regulate or tax it officially. Would that change REALLY be enough to cause a huge explosion between State and Feds, when Alaska has been going along minding its own business on that point for decades now?
Sorry, I don't buy it. Maybe if Bush were still at the helm that would be a more reasonable concern, but something tells me that Obama has other things to do than get into a petty power struggle with California over cannabis.
And even if it did cause some kind of stir-up, why does no one suggest that this may be precisely what's needed? Quite frankly, the Federal scheduling system is a crock. It's completely disconnected from science and reason alike. Maybe total rebellion from one of the biggest and most powerful states in the Union is exactly what's needed to get the Feds to actually LOOK at the stupid scheduling system again and realize how completely borked it is.
Did you vote to legalize, or would you have if you were a Californian?
