Did you get taught about sex, in school?

I remembered there being rumors that there was a lesson where they were going to teach you how to put condoms on bananas and all that, but then they never did. Looking back we never got a single lesson or anything to teach us about how to have sex properly.

Also, if you did get "the talk" in lessons where they actually taught you stuff relating to safe sex plz say if you are British, I am English and I'm also wondering whether the school systems here just doesn't teach it, or whether it's varies between schools

I did 27
I did not 13
I barely got taught about it, but there was some attempt 17
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

We got split into two groups. The girls went off to a room and were shown a video of two people having sex. It wasn't shown to boys because the reactions from boys had proven to be most unwelcome. We instead got a chemistry lesson about the components of spermicidal jelly (which came in a tube like toothpaste, and which none of us have seen in our adult lives). Naturally, the contents of the tube ended up down the back of Darren Johnson's neck (and someone shouted "dog sperm" for reasons I don't understand, and which become more disturbing now I think about it in retrospect). To this day, the back of Darren's neck has never become pregnant, and none of us know how to please a woman.

At least Darren Johnson can empathize with the girls.

I've met him. I don't think he can. Unless "empathising with the girls" is eating biscuits and finding your dad's porn to be quite distasteful. He didn't know that his dad craved sweaty truckers. He does now.

And also worringly true. This is the first time I've ever used the real name of a person I know. It really happened, and it really happened to John Darrenson.

From the US. We were taught; the text book definition of what sex is. The relevant anatomy. Some sexual terms defined, like "what is a blow job" -- usually these were kids asking questions. Most of it was about STDs and when its "ok" to have sex. Nothing about how to perform well, or actually use any contraception -- though different kinds were talked about in decent length.

    I’m in england here.
Back when I was in school, we were also going to be taught how to put condoms on but we didn’t.

The teacher did talk about forms of contraception, heterosexual and homosexual sex.
    This was back in 2014-2015

Nothing, nada, zilch. I didn’t even know why I had a “wet” dream at 10, and I thought I was sick. I told my friend about it who laughed like hell because his father had “the talk” with him and told me what was going on. When was I was 17, I tried to fuck a girl and I didn’t even know where to put it. I tried to stick my dick straight in and hurt her and she squealed and almost woke up her parents.

We got no sex ed in school and I lived with my grandparents who would never talk about it. I learned about it from a friend whose father had “the talk” with him. I didn’t even know why I was getting erections.

i'm from the US. i got taught a bit about sex in school but many people here get taught nothing. mostly they taught us about what different STDs are like and that abstinence is the only way to ensure you don't get one, which I think is super ineffective. we did learn a little about condoms but unfortunately there were no demonstrations of how to put one on or take it off.

Very little. We watched a VHS tape about it in fourth grade, but I think it had more to do with puberty than sex, come to think of it.

As far as safe sex, how sex works, stuff like that, no. But, I did have to sit through a presentation about STDs in college using stuffed animals that represented the different diseases. They also gave us the option to take as many free condoms and candy as we wanted.

Meh, they tried. In grade 8 a buddy of mine located his father's porn mag stash in his attic. We learned what we needed to know from those.

No never taught that and I don't think it should be taught. You learn that in the school of life my friend.

I was taught about sex by scraps of magazine pages thrown in bushes.

They taught us what sex, STD's, the pill & condoms were, but not how to have or use any of them it.

Yeah they don't teach you to be good at sex. My health teacher in high school was a nasty old prude who just made us watch lifetime movies about how if you have sex youll get every STD and get pregnant instantly and the dad won't stay around because men = bad. That was like 15 years ago so not sure how it is now

The only thing is that instead of being actually educational, it was more scare tactics. Like going into detail about the effects of EVERY STD. Rather than explaining the actual cycle of ovulation, which I learned as an adult.
