Did Will Smith do the right thing?

  • I understand this. Her medical issue is not one that is killing her, however, like cancer. Her medical condition is baldness, hair loss, whatever you want to call if. That’s what it does. Now she looks like G.I. Jane because she has chosen to deal with her hair loss by shaving her head. She didn’t have to, but that was the fashion choice she made to respond to her hair loss. So what Chris Rock did was about the moral equivalent of making a joke about Donald Trump’s combover.

    • Okay I dont know how to break it to you but hairloss due to medical issues is not a choice. Shaving it is something done since having patches or uneven hair looks worse than just not having any at all. So no its not a fashion statement when someone loses hair because of a disease. Fashion would be shaving your head since you are in a rock band or because you are a punker or something like that. Not because you are having hair issues do to medical problems.

      • Look at the amount of stubble on her head. I doubt shaving it was her only option. In fact, I know it wasn’t because even if she had run out of decent looking natural hair options, she could have always gotten a wig or other artificial hair pieces. I’m not gonna have you tell me that something isn’t a choice just because a person’s choices are limited. It’s still a choice. She has all the money and means in the world. She does not HAVE to walk around with a visibly shaved head — though good for her if she wants to. But that is her fashion CHOICE based on the several reasonable options she has.

        • It appears that you really do have no clue at this stage of your life.

            • Not at all.

I just know how much damage the wrong words can have on people.

Please read (actually read) the following article... and ask yourself how much of what they say in it could be true.

              https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/health-wellness/2022/03/29/smith-slapped-chris-rock-but-some-say-joke-violent-too/7207103001/

If you find some of it true - or likely true... then extrapolate that to various situations in life.

              • Well maybe if Will Smith thinks bald jokes are so emotionally violent he should have never made them against other people first. (And I don’t just mean in his sitcom. There’s a video circulating now of him making a bald joke in an interview as himself, not as a character, to a seemingly random guy on TV). If you don’t believe this kind of comedy is acceptable, fine. But it’s a cultural norm that Will Smith himself happily exploited and had no problem with until all of a sudden his family was on the receiving end. I have no respect for that.
