Is there supposed to be a comma in that first sentence? I read it as the medication was causing him to be violent, not stopping it?
If he did in fact stop taking medication which was keeping him calm and nonviolent, I'm sorry that he experienced this, but what were the hospital staff supposed to do? Tasers do seem extreme, but having known psychiatric hospital workers, their lives are threatened daily by violet patients and I would think they were taking no chances after the shoe was thrown that his behavior would escalate.
You're not doing him any favours by focussing on the staff as the cause of his situation rather than his cessation of his medication: I would've thought part of his journey to mental health would be learning to accept the consequences of his actions rather than blaming overworked and probably underpaid staff.
Did you check them for bruises & other injuries, by the way?
