Yes they certainly do. They just aren't told that's exactly what they're signing up for, because well, as you said, nobody would sign up for it.
It is something that should be assumed, though. How else do people think an insane person would react and how else do people think they should react in return?
There is a proper way to restrain someone without putting bruises all over them. Apparently many just aren't trained properly and/or just don't care enough about the patients.
Would you like to get bit? I think you'd react if some person was trying to hurt you. I'm not saying it was right to taser the guy but it's not shocking. My boyfriend has been bitten twice and had to get tested for AIDS and hepatitis and he isn't even a nurse or doctor.
Did the hospital abuse my boyfriend?

Why sue? They have a depressing job, shouldn't they be allowed a little fun every now and again.

It's often simply they are tired of being punching bags for every degenerate and druggie who comes in.

That's literally the job they signed up for. If they aren't strong enough to handle themselves, they aren't strong enough for the job.

Nobody " signs up" to get bitten, spit on and hit. If you have that attitude nobody would do the job.
