USA, and I was shocked too when I learned about this.
Cops using tasers, sure yeah, but hosptial personnel? On a person without a weapon?
IMO, I think they went a bit too far. If my boyfriend had a gun, or something on him, then I would understand, but obviously he did not. Plus, he just threw a shoe, which I doubt would cause any serious injuries.
I worked in a US state-run mental hospital for awhile. I never saw the techs use a taser when restraining patients. But it was a crazy chaotic environment and very stressful for patients and staff. Not at all therapeutic, sadly.
Did the hospital abuse my boyfriend?
